matthias‘ soundworld began in 1997 as Matthias Puppe’s four-track home recording project, blending elements of noise rock and electronic music. It soon evolved into a full band with the addition of Sandra Nicklisch (vocals, keyboards), Mathias Becker (bass), and later Renate Strümpel (saxophone) and Jeffrey Dunant (guitar).
In 1999, the band signed with Isoton Records and released its debut EP, La Guerre A Lieu. Their first full-length album, Ride On Through the Darkness, was recorded with Uwe Jahnke (Fehlfarben, S.Y.P.H.) and released with the support of Torpedo Leipzig. The band disbanded in 2002.
Since then, Matthias Puppe has continued matthias‘ soundworld as a solo project, focusing on electronic music. The album Zschocher was released in 2018, followed by the EP Yokohama in 2022. In 2026, Seasons (Are for Dancing) brought together ten songs written over the previous decade, reimagining them in a new sonic context.
